Arriaga, Francisco - Francisco Arriaga is a soil scientist with the USDA-ARS at the National Soil Dynamics Laboratory in Auburn, Alabama. His research focuses on conservation tillage systems and water relations. In more detail, he conducts basic and applied research that supports the development of soil management systems to increase plant available water and reduce the risks from short-term droughts in production systems common to the southeastern U.S. His research primarily focuses on rain-fed systems, but systems integrating irrigation with conservation tillage are also targeted. He has been invited to speak on conservation tillage systems and water relations at several national and international conferences. Dr. Arriaga has an Affiliate Assistant Professor appointment with the Department of Agronomy and Soils at Auburn University. He received his BS (1994) in soil science from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, MS (1996) in agronomy and soil science from Auburn University, and his PhD (2000) in soil science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
